    Premature females laying eggs..

This year, I had a female lay her first egg at 15 months old. For me, that was a new personal (low) record and made me reflect on some of this. When I consider the fitness of a female gecko to breed, I consider three things: 1) Age 2) Weight 3) Has she laid duds already? Some geckos do mature...

    Lineage and selective breeding

This is a great topic. In 2019, I bought a number of chahoua that were not visually high white, but come from lines known for producing high white animals. I have to wait a bit to see what the results are on those, but to answer your question and reflect on my own experiences, I will always buy...

    Chahoua Trios? 3-ways? 3 Somes?

I would also like to know the duration and ability to which they retain sperm. I have a theory that female chahoua are not actually particularly good at it. @ArborealsAnonymous ... how are your trios doing?

Breeding for size - 70g and above?

Something interesting I've noticed is that they tend to keep growing to about 5-6 years old, or even a little older. I believe that reptiles may actually grow forever, but their growth rates slow down as they age. Don't quote me on that right now - I need to dig up the source. Anyway, I would...

    Chahoua Not Laying Dud Eggs

Hello and welcome, @msroka! I'm sorry for getting to your post rather late. May I ask how old your female is? I have had some females lay eggs early (say, 16-18 months) and then not again for 6 months or so. I wonder if that could be it?

    What Caging Do You Use?

@Canvas_geckos asking the questions that are on my mind too :) I would love to hear from more folks who use the PVC enclosures, like @Jkdaniels15 ... just about your general experience. I've been mulling a switch from glass tanks and Exo-Terras over to PVC for the sake of efficiency, but it's...

This is extremely informative, and very interesting. I need to spend a little more time reading it... thanks for sharing!

    Leachie Linguine or Chewie Fettucini?

@Canvas_geckos I've seen over the last year that the older they are, the more stubborn they become about what they'll eat. I've found it increasingly difficult to get new (older) geckos adjusted after they make their way here. I often wonder about stuff like differences in water in various...

What fruit diet are you currently feeding your chahoua?

Question for those who feed it: what is your feeding response like when offering the Pangea Growth and Breeding formula straight up (no mixes or additions)? I fed it for the first time this week and got fairly poor results.

Mixing Pre-Made Diets: Yes or No?

@Corey, your posts are so insightful and thoughtful. Thank you for these contributions!

Mixing Pre-Made Diets: Yes or No?

Unfortunately, I don't think so. Even most of the field animals that were collected were put into preservation and not really fully necropsied, if my memory serves me correctly.

NEW PAPER - PINE ISLAND LOCALITY

OK I finally got around to reading this... @Andrea IGA thank you for sharing. I so appreciate you keeping us abreast of the field developments. Lots of interesting things to digest in this paper... one of the most interesting is that perhaps Rhacodactylus trachycephalus is more common and less...

    hatchling color change over time?

For overall buying advice... I'd say that if you can find two parents you really like, and a baby that shows some cool color and/or pattern, that's probably a safe bet. If it's a more established pair, you can also ask for pictures of older offspring and siblings - that helps too!

    hatchling color change over time?

I wish there was a good answer for this, but it's really hard to answer. I've seen two pastel colored parents produce saturated offspring, boring parents produce super high color offspring, and beautiful parents produce brown, patternless offspring. I also think it's hard to look at a baby that...
