    Post them up: Tinley Pickups!

I couldn't go to Tinley this year, but I was living vicariously through everyone else's social media updates, so I thought it would be good to start a thread of all the new faces acquired at Tinley. Ready... Set... Go!

Terminology: "Super High White" vs. "High White" vs. "White Collar" vs. "White Wings" vs. "Green Collar"

I can't believe all the time I put into pics in the OP went down the shitter. Dangit!

What are their ages? 42g is not out of the ordinary for a GT male, in my experience :)

    Obesity

@ET Geckos has some feelings/research on this. We've talked about it before and if I recall correctly, in her opinion, overweight geckos become bad breeders. I think you might be onto something...

The Art & Science of Chahoua Pairing

This makes me feel better - like I'm not the only person struggling! I've bred Chahoua for 10 years and these last two have really been a struggle. In the 2013 - 2014 seasons, every pair was laying 6+ fertile eggs and they were all hatching. I was swimming in babies and could barely control them...

The Art & Science of Chahoua Pairing

Hi All, I find myself in the midst of my second "crappy" chahoua season - lots of dud eggs, which makes me think my males aren't getting the job done. Females are reliably laying beautiful eggs but they're infertile. Over the years, I've left some pairs together, swapped out others, repaired...

Live planted tanks- How do you do YOUR plants?

I think I JUST ran out and threw the bag away, but the brand I used is organic and has no "extras" added to it. Probably not great for growing plants, but it's been great for growing geckos!

    Injuries

So sorry to hear this :( I have a decent local exotics vet, but he is definitely not a New Caledonian species expert. A few years ago, I had a female who crashed so hard that I got concerned and took her to him for help. I received the same outcome that you did with injections for a week or so...

Live planted tanks- How do you do YOUR plants?

I've been using this setup for probably 7-8 years now? Once a quarter, I take everything out, turn and aerate all the soil, wipe everything down, etc. It has worked very well for me overall.

Live planted tanks- How do you do YOUR plants?

I love this topic! I have kept my animals in live/bioactive vivariums for several years, both because I think they help maintain humidity and I personally like how they look. I have never put drainage layers in mine and personally think those work better for super humid species like dart frogs...

    Egg cutting

As another point of reference here, my eggs have reliably hatched in 75-79 days for the last 3 seasons. I have no idea why, but so far this year they're all running closer to 90 days with the same temps and incubation methods. You never really know.
