How many eggs do your female Chahoua lay each season?

In a perfect world for me, 8 eggs per female. Four clutches of two eggs, spaced roughly 60 days apart. In a "meh" season, three clutches in the same sequence as above, but never getting the fourth. In a crappy season, two or NO clutches. I'd say that I have some females who are just better...

What age do female Chahoua start laying eggs?

My experience is pretty similar... I've had one or two females drop their first eggs around 16-18 months of age, but most seem to start closer to the 22-24 month range. If they drop the eggs surprisingly early, I usually wait until a second set is laid before I think about pairing them up, just...

What fruit diet are you currently feeding your chahoua?

I use the indoor formula and some of my cages have a very low UVB (Reptisun 5.0), but some do not. I've had really good luck over the years.

    Gut loading insects

My crew gets food every second or third night, generally alternating between fruit and crickets. I dust my crickets with Miner-All for every feeding. For gut load, I use everything from fresh fruit and veggies to old Pangea. I also offer a number of the dry cricket foods. If I am feeding an old...

    Where's Waldo? Here, thankfully!

Finding nice PI males is quite a struggle these days, but I was able to find a really nice one locally thanks to Lorna Redmond of Red Sky Geckos. He comes from her Arwen x Aragorn pairing, and considering his camouflage in these pics, he's been named Waldo. He'll spend the rest of 2019 packing...

In-Tank Incubation / Will Chahoua Eat Their Offspring?

I did a few years ago and I let all of my tanks dry out thoroughly, then I rewet them and introduced isopods, and I've not seen a wood mite since. They were a PITA when they were here though. I don't think they hurt the geckos, but it freaked me out for a little while. I also thoroughly treat...

What are some of your other hobbies (aside from reptiles)?

I have to say that I am *loving* all of your fb foraging updates. SO COOL! The mushroom recipes made me crave a portobello risotto my mom used to make but that I haven't had in years :)

What are some of your other hobbies (aside from reptiles)?

I've always loved following your pup updates on FB over the years. They're gorgeous! Rhodesians were always one of my favorite breeds.

    Geckos making new brain cells

Fascinating. Maybe science can do some further testing here... I know a few people who could benefit from the ability to regrow brain cells ;)

Sold Yearling Female Pine Island Chahoua - High White Genetics

Thank you, Candice! And WELCOME! This little one is starting to show pores, so I'm tentatively taking him off the market for now. We'll see if they stick around, and how he matures!

    Chahoua Trios? 3-ways? 3 Somes?

I once bought a trio of geckos, and I currently keep two trios, so let me explain. The first trio I bought (from someone local who was being deployed) was a disaster. One of the females was clearly the alpha and beat up the other female pretty bad. It didn't take too long before I split them up...

In-Tank Incubation / Will Chahoua Eat Their Offspring?

It stays decently..... MOIST. Haha, just had to sneak that word in where I can. I mist pretty heavily every night, and on top of that, I dump a good bit of water (probably a liter and a half) in the tanks about every week or two. If I start to see the soil looking a little lighter/drier, I dump...

    Your (Chahoua's) Favorite Feeder Insects

Doesn't sound terrible at all - I think that's a great idea considering that Superworms have sizable jaws for these geckos!

What fruit diet are you currently feeding your chahoua?

Thinking about ordering small sizes to test: - Leapin Leachies Chewie Fettuccine - Leapin Leachies Leachie Lasagna - Clark's Gecko Diet - Big Fat Geckos Smoothie Mix - Breeder and Juvenile Formula - Repashy Grubs'N' Fruit - BPZ Black Panther Diet ... anyone want to give me a yay or nay before...

Chahoua Breeder Directory: Post Your Business Pages & Details Here

I read some time a while back that facebook has become the #1 platform for animal smugglers and black market sales, and the ease of connecting/selling has really devastated some native populations around the world. Before, those folks had to operate in the shadows, but just like how facebook has...

    Mainland/GT Appreciation Thread!

They are all gorgeous, but the pattern on that last one is particularly awesome! RE Pinning a post of GT breeders/keepers, sure! Start a thread and I'll pin it! :)

    Cage aggression

I think this is a great point... I feel like their cage aggression is often a result of them being startled or scared. Being nocturnal, they are usually much more aware/alert at night, and more receptive to me going into their cages (because they can see me coming).

    Pastel Lines

Yup! That's her! I still have her album up on my photos page on fb... feel free to peruse! You and @TroysGeckos are probably the only two people who can attest to how truly INSANE her colors are.
