Theorically... But, without genetic analysis and studies, who knows 100% for shure?

NEW PAPER - PINE ISLAND LOCALITY

Good question. As far as I know, every wc animals from PI had/have no tail, I remember Tracy saying that a PI from her had an incomplete autotomy, but the portion of the tail, seemed to regrow back. I don't have a conclusion on this.. o_O

NEW PAPER - PINE ISLAND LOCALITY

Here a new study on record data for 4 species of Diplodactylidae. Obviously, Mniarogekko chahoua are the main interest. Since 2012 the status of the species was concerned. Now, after Exoterra report from 2013, another survey with GPS data show the presence f this species on Pine Island, with...

Has anyone been to New Caledonia?

Sorry for my multiple requests, but can you share the pics of the only animal you photographed? It would be great! Thanks a lot

Has anyone been to New Caledonia?

Ops, a little late... Anyway NC is very variable in landscapes and even each forest is different from another.. I think some studies have been done, but not so detailed.

    What are these....

Those are "markers-secretions". Males have those from pre-anal/femoral pores to sign territory and let know their presence to females!

Jalu vs. Chahoua, PI vs. GT, or are they all just "Mniarogekkos"?

Yes, because in 99% of cases, GT animals are always labeled as "not so important", "not so cool,coloured...whites..." Because of THIS way of thinking, we are now arguing about lineages. IF, from the beginning, "pioneers" made things with a little bit of intelligence, today the problem wouldn't...

Jalu vs. Chahoua, PI vs. GT, or are they all just "Mniarogekkos"?

I totally agree... 3000+ for a gecko that is somehow simply white on other colours is absurd! ...so pied Uroplatus henkeli, high white U.sikorae should cost the same... But it isn't..

Jalu vs. Chahoua, PI vs. GT, or are they all just "Mniarogekkos"?

PI on the right > sublabial front scale 2nd row is divided in 2 scales. GT on the left > sublabial front scale 2nd row is single. As I wrote NOT every PI I have show double scales, but no GT in my collection show the double scales.

Jalu vs. Chahoua, PI vs. GT, or are they all just "Mniarogekkos"?

market and cash can F*&$OFF! This is something more important. This is a taxonomic, question!

Jalu vs. Chahoua, PI vs. GT, or are they all just "Mniarogekkos"?

The fact that we still have no proves of diversification (if are present) , from PI animals to GT animals, is lack of DNA samples from PI. Today is REALLY hard to make research in NewCaledonia, and PI is almost closed to any kind of fauna-related activities. Last "Thanks" for this goes to a...

Jalu vs. Chahoua, PI vs. GT, or are they all just "Mniarogekkos"?

I was working on figure out wich features could be of help. I found that 2 of my PI of Steve's line have the top sublabial scale divided in 2 microscales. The parents not. No GTs in my collection have the scale divided. I have NO a big collection of animals, so mine is only a "can you check in...

Yes! Animals are truly present on Ile de Pins! The most recent ExoTerra expedition in 2013 photographed 1 female. The pics are quite famous. Here is one ↓
