Late Bloomers - Is It Male or Female?

I have never seen the line of male pores ‘ broken ‘. You can also shine a light on male pores and you will learn to recognize a bit of shine that you don’t see with pseudo pores. It’s the waxy secretion coming out. I suspect this begins at full sexual maturity of males . I would venture a guess...

Which incubator are you using ?

I have never used an incubator. I just stick eggs in a yogurt container with moist hatch rite and get 100 % hatch with equal male / female chahoua. I haven’t sexed the leachianus to see the sex ratio. Been told to please incubate for male leach this year and I might just keep those a little...

Real name identification would be nice

I haven’t checked back for awhile.... unless I am missing it , I don’t see anyway to identify who is listing in the classifieds. I will not bother to look at animals without knowing the breeders actual names.

    Dud egg came to life

I found one pair of eggs on March 25 , 2018. They were infertile, not pearly white and kind of dented. I was surprised because this pair has always given 4 perfect clutches every year. Since it was time to get an egg hatching yogurt container ready any way , I put them in and kept them. They...

    What is "power feeding"?

I think you see the term ‘ power feeding ‘ used more in the context of snakes that will eat any and everything you offer and get obese. Sometimes gecko people may offer pinky mice and fatty wax worms as additional calories. Both are high in fat. Years back I would offer new born frozen / thawed...

    What Caging Do You Use?

IKEA actually has some options with their display cases. I used a long one for gargs I got for 5 bucks at a garage sale. It worked great ! I had thought of using a tall one I had for chahoua or leach , but then I sold it. I have seen photos of others using that one.

Placement for feeding cups and ledges

sometimes I put food dishes in 3 different areas to see which one they use. Most important is easy access to the food by means of a branch or cork bark. A ledge sitting all alone on glass can be hard to get to after you mist and the glass is wet. I don't put the food near a heat source as it...

    Cage aggression

Chahoua are VERY intelligent. They don't forget. Everything Michael said and it's hard to say at 3 yrs old how your guy lived before , was handled and what experiences he had. And some are just stinkers like anything can be. I sold a lovely young leachianus because he wouldn't settle down...

    Gecko Laying Habits

They love to lay in cork rounds most of all ! I remove all the rounds right before laying season begins. They get mad but will eventually lay under cork flats as mentioned above. If my oldest female is really mad I removed the rounds I can put a piece of pipe insulation in the cage with open...

    Cage aggression

How old ? Chahoua usually calm down nicely. It's hard at this point to determine since he's new and been through a lot of changes. I have learned that baby / young chahoua of mine can get very reactive if they think crickets are coming. They will lunge first and think later. lol They out grow...

PI or Mainland, Does It Really Matter Anymore?

From PDV 8-6-2017on the FB chahoua page ( responding to a question I had about Jalu ): Preliminary Grouping and Reasons: M. Isle of Pines and M. Jalu share many characteristics, including larger size, yellowish venter, smaller relative size of eye (compared to M. Chahoua) and above all...
