I was rummaging through old pictures this week and came across a group of pictures I took comparing e. agricolae and e. vieillardi, so I figured I would share. I no longer keep either species, but enjoyed them when I did. Who here keeps eurys?

Eurydactylodes vieillardi:

I’ve been lucky enough to see them at Tinley when he brought a few in October. Both species are hard to come by and I thought the symmetricus was just about the coolest thing I had seen at the show in quite some time. And Jon is such a nice and smart guy, makes me glad to know my agricolae are either directly from him, or his lines.

Just this year I got into Eurydactylodes. Bought my first Vieillardi from Pangea Reptile and love the little dude! he has very cool colors. I am very interested in the Symmetricus, but because of their rarity, the prices are very high and inconsistent. I have also heard of some breeders having issues breeding them, saying they are not as easy to breed as the Agricolae and Vieillardi. I will post some pics of my new guy when I can figure out how to.

Here is my E. Vieillardi. He was missing a toe on his right front leg when I got him :/. Thinking about being cliche and naming him "Little Foot" or "Little Finger" 😆.

I went through and uploaded several old videos to my Youtube account last night, including this one:

I remember that for a few years, some folks had a lot of trouble breeding vieillardi... is that still the case? I had a lot of success and had them coming out of my ears at one point. They're a species I think I'd like to keep again...

The problem with eurydactylodes in general is that the babies aren't quite as hardy as the other mainstream NC geckos. They remind me a bit of phelsuma when they hatch, if they don't have a good first shed, they struggle. If you keep their humidity high as babies they seem to do well. I think more and more people are keeping the babies bioactive, or at least on moss which is keeping the humidity higher making shedding easier on them.

We have E. Vieillardi. Unfortunately the male passed away on this first season (no idea why). The 2 females we have are still popping out eggs (we've never found any) it's a bioactive vivarium.... The babies just appear! Currently have 3 babies. The females are quite aggressive in breeding season, considering their size, they do this bite and shake thing (like a dog). Actually we just sold the first baby about 5mins ago 😭. My partner arranged the sale and deposit and then was like ermmm you were okay with me selling it lol.

One day, 3 months, 1 month...i couldn't get them to stay still in age order so this was the best I could get! The 4th baby is just a week old and wasn't much size difference soooo I just took out the 3.

Are those all Agricolae or are the middle and right vieillardi?

These are all vieillardi. We went for vieillardi are they lay more calcified eggs (than agricolae) so they are similar to chahoua eggs in that respect.

The smallest one is quite dark in the group photo. It's exactly the same gecko that was in the palm of my hand photo above.
