    Gecko Laying Habits

^That's another great point, Ryan. I'm sure others have experienced it, but I'd say that 50-70% of the time, my females seem to know when their eggs are infertile because they either lay them haphazardly or don't guard them. The fertile eggs, they lay very carefully (hidden) and guard. The...

    Gecko Laying Habits

I love this topic because it's something I've experimented with on and off over the years... but still have questions. When I started keeping Chahoua years ago, everyone said you needed to use lay boxes, so I did. Tupperware with doors cut out, filled with spagnhum moss or a damp bark/soil...

Feeding Larger Live Prey Items - Pinkies, Other Geckos, etc.

I've never smelled that Eurydactylodes "goo" smell, but I can imagine. Yuck! I might try some other smaller gecko species later this year. Potentially some of the bavayia species as they would exist in the same range naturally. Has anyone ever tried those?

Feeding Larger Live Prey Items - Pinkies, Other Geckos, etc.

I did feed snails years ago, and it was hard to tell how many were eaten because they reproduced so quickly. However, I did see my GT female eat two of them on different occasions. Quail eggs... I have those on hand because I feed my dogs raw, but can reptiles get salmonella...?

Feeding Larger Live Prey Items - Pinkies, Other Geckos, etc.

I actually tried raising mournings for this purpose years ago and found it to be a lot more work than it was worth. When I was at my wit's end with the project, I put like 2-3 mournings into each tank and somehow, they survived for weeks before escaping into my house. However, with Chahoua's...

    Your (Chahoua's) Favorite Feeder Insects

One of the things I like to do over the spring and summer when everyone's appetites are up is offer a wider variety of feeder insects. I've tried just about everything over the years and am always down to re-try, so I'd love to hear from some of you about what food items your geckos like most...

    Mainland/GT Appreciation Thread!

It was mainlands that first got me into chahoua, and while I don't keep them anymore, I do sometimes look back on old pics and think about how they get a bad rep for not being as beautiful or interesting as PIs. Here are some of mine from over the years - who else has pics to share?

Have you candled the egg? If so, how does it look and how much yolk is left?

What fruit diet are you currently feeding your chahoua?

Pretty smooth! Much more like the regular pangea diets :)

    Egg cutting

My experience mimics Troys. I used to not cut for years, then when I got an incubator, that made it much easier to "standardize" my incubation times and temps so I know that if an egg goes past 90 days, something is suspect. I will candle, look at the remaining yolk, look at the size of the...
