    Pastel Lines

Does this count as pastel? This boy is 66g and I still dont know where he is going with his OCC. Fired as dark as he gets in the first two shots and then as light as he gets.

    Sold 56g female available

This girl hatched September 16, 2018 and is already 56g. She is not power fed, in fact she only gets crickets once/week and smoothie once/week- she is just a big girl. The first several photos are of her fired in various stages and a then two photos each of her parents. She should have amazing...

Placement for feeding cups and ledges

Its been amazing! My keeping is a constant adjustment of finding ways to keep my babies in optimal conditions while keeping the maintenance as enjoyable as possible for myself haha. Switching to bioactive tanks and putting food on the ground have been the single largest changes in terms of...

Placement for feeding cups and ledges

Ive started keeping the water bowls elevated but the food bowls at the base of the cork tubes because they do track food all over the glass if I leave the food by a wall. They are most certainly eating, their setups are not gigantic and they are going to find their food.

What age do female Chahoua start laying eggs?

Does this mean that you would consider pairing up a female that was younger than 2.5/3 years so long as she was already consistently laying? Ive recently decided to give it a try with one of my girls that has dropped a couple clutches already without losing significant weight or showing signs of...

    Chahoua Trios? 3-ways? 3 Somes?

I have a trio going this season and two girls living together that I will introduce a male to next season. I was told by someone else to start the girls together when they are the same size and age and ~40g and raise them together and they will have less aggression. I don't know how true it is...

What age do female Chahoua start laying eggs?

My youngest egg producer started at 14 months. Honestly, she looked like shit- this was before i changed the diet to primarily insects and I could not keep weight on her. I actually moved her to the coldest part of my house to try and stop her from laying, but then she went off food. It was a...

    Gut loading insects

What are your gut loading regiments? What ratio of dusted/undusted insects do you use? Do you alternate dusting with calcium and a multivitamin? Tell me about your supplementation practices please. Ill start: I only feed my chahouas twice/week- once a smoothie, and once crickets. Babies and...

    Pastel Lines

Michael, isn't this Ember when she was younger? That may have been her fired up then but I have never seen her this light, she is always super dark now. Ive even tried getting her out into the sunshine with me for like 20-30 minutes and she doesn't go light.

    Egg Incubation Medium & Methods

This is by no means a fact, but I don't think the chahoua eggs need to be in contact with the substrate. Mine are lifted off the substrate with a layer of this plastic mesh and so far this season, all my eggs have been hatching just fine.

    Egg Incubation Medium & Methods

Last year I did the eggs directly on perlite hydrated by weight, and didn't add water during incubation, containers were sealed with just a few tiny pinholes for air flow. My successful hatch rate was dismal and I had two babies that hatched on their own but perished immediately after. Not...

Feeding Larger Live Prey Items - Pinkies, Other Geckos, etc.

I feed my monitors raw eggs of all varieties and havent had issues... All reptiles carry salmonella its just that turtles are a common pet for children, the 4" shell size was arbitrarily decided on as a size that most small children couldn't fit in their mouths.

Feeding Larger Live Prey Items - Pinkies, Other Geckos, etc.

I have one girl who will eat pinks, but I dont think she particularly likes them- she's just willing to eat literally anything off of tongs for me. Most dont seem to care for anything that doesn't move around a lot or smell like fruit, but I bet small geckos would be a hit!

    Egg cutting

Its solid dark, I can't see anything through it anymore. But it was the bigger of the two eggs from Ember so i imagine will take a bit longer to finish.
